NICE PLACES TO WORK ON YOUR COMPUTER

This month I had a mini renovation in my house. Wonderful to have a guest room, but it was really never used. Hop, bed out and in its place, I put a desk. Very simple: just a wooden plank with two trestles. But I did paint that plank bright pink and I am very pleased with it. I work a lot from home, so I need a nice place where I can concentrate. Fortunately, that is now there too, but sometimes I absolutely need to get out for more energy and new inspiration. I am already quite familiar with nice workspaces in every part of the city. I will share my favorite spots with you.

– Coffee & Coconuts

Here it is wise to come only after lunch. Around three o'clock there is a lot of space and you can easily sit at a table for four people. I love space, you should know. The wifi is super fast and the menu features super healthy smoothies, herbal teas, soups, and salads. The staff is very nice and doesn't bat an eye when you unfold your laptop.

– The Hoxton

I always find the atmosphere in hotels very pleasant, because calm and comfortable. It feels homely here, with many tourists, so you are not distracted by Dutch chatter and you have different corners and seating areas where you can settle for a whole day. The Hoxton also has delicious lunches, for example, the Greek salad just to name one.

– Volkshotel – Werkplaats

This is an excellent place where you can also organize a meeting. If you want to sit in a private spot for a while, you can ask for a ‘work cabin’. And if you have worked really hard that day, then you have earned a drink at the bar. Just be careful not to hang around all evening.

– Café de Jaren

You might not immediately think of Café de Jaren as a workspace, but here you have very nice seating by the window and between 2 PM and 6 PM it is pleasantly quiet. You are right in the city, so this is also a good spot for an appointment. De Jaren has an easy and clear brasserie menu. Nothing wrong with that.

– Koffie Academie

This is a small shop on the Overtoom, so you have to be lucky to find a spot. And you have to love good coffee.

– Kessens

I think this is a super place for breakfast or lunch. Once the rush is a bit over, you can work very well here. The menu features super healthy salads, sandwiches, and egg dishes. Owners Anna and Casper are a couple. Anna has gained a lot of inspiration in Stockholm (where she lived) and you can see that reflected in the interior and the menu. Casper comes from the pastry family Holtkamp. So you know you're in good hands.

– De Stadskantine

I always settle myself here by the large window, overlooking the busy Van Woustraat. I can concentrate very well when a lot is happening around me. There is a lot to see, like passersby, so you have to be able to handle that. The menu is super simple and also very affordable. That's nice because often working outside the home costs (without you realizing it) quite a bit of money.

– Friday Next

Try to hold yourself back here. You are surrounded by incredibly nice interior and everything is for sale. This concept store has a delightful menu and if you sit a bit towards the back of the shop, you are briefly out of the busy city.

– Anne & Max

You can choose from two locations: in West or in the Pijp. Especially ideal if you want to start early, because this place is open from 8 AM. You don't have to feel awkward, because there are often people working at the large table. I always find it nice to join them. Somehow you encourage each other to get busy.
