OUR GIRL IN NEW YORK
Sometimes the best gifts come in the biggest boxes. The Outnet, a branch of Net-a-porter, once took me to The Hamptons.
But on Sunday they overwhelmed me with gifts from Iris & Ink. From bags to pants to suits to dresses; everything came out of this huge box. And I did a happy dance. Thank you, dear The Outnet.
The department store of ‘unaffordable’ and ‘drooling at the windows’ named Barneys has opened a new location. Right around the corner from me. And together with Blue, I stood many times in front of the displays. I had never been inside. Until now. Like Dora the Explorer, I immersed myself in this futuristic fashion fairy tale. Everything is beautiful. Certainly the architecture and decor. Look at that staircase! (Oh, and these red sandals are at the top of my list...)
Back to the ordinary world. After Barneys, we have lunch at the corner of W 11th Street in West Village. This twenty-year-old restaurant is an institution. Simple menu, simple seating, but, Tartine has an eternal charm. My new bag is also in attendance. And we are having a great time.
On Wednesdays we drink coffee at Blue Stone Lane. And on Wednesday evening we go for dessert at Sant Ambroeus (it turned out to be the apple pie, by the way).
This has been the week of lunch appointments. Thursday featured Santina on the agenda. Upon entering, you feel like you are at the High Line in Meatpacking, just a bit on the coast of Italy. The menu is delightful. The juices fresh. And the umbrellas always colorful.
I take Blue to the hairdresser. For his appointment, he is somewhat depressed because he already felt the storm coming, but afterwards fresh and fruity: ready for summer!
