RARE THINGS WE DID WITH OUR MAKE-UP IN THE NINETIES
Part 2: Hair
Yesterday I already updated you with some fun beauty trends from the nineties. Which I also participated in a lot. Unfortunately, I couldn't scan the photos, so you'll have to rely on your imagination (muahahaha). We'll leave the silver eyeshadow and blue mascaras aside for now and move on to the hair trends. Which we were incredibly fond of. Bet you recognize them too?
1. Crimping
I still have the waffle iron you know! Yes, it came back into fashion last year, so I blew the dust off it again. Now I occasionally do a strand, back then I took my whole hair in it.
2. Hair mascara
Great solution for when you weren't allowed to dye your hair but still wanted a bright color little color. I always had those purple and blue streaks in my hair because I thought they looked really nice with brown. That my hair looked sticky otherwise didn't matter at all.
“Scrunchies were everything”
3. Scrunchies
This is an addition from my colleagues who were more than happy to brainstorm with this list. Those hair ties that had more fabric around them than elastic. Which are actually huge hair accessories. I didn't have them myself, but apparently, I missed a huge trend. Scrunchies were everything.
4. Braids and dreads
I really wasn't allowed to have dreads (I didn't want them either, because I knew very well that the result would be a cropped head), but I definitely did braids. Preferably hundreds on my head. And those hundreds you would tie up with tiny little elastics or with aluminum foil. Maybe I'll do it again. Justin Bieber has been spotted, so the trends are coming back.
5. Zigzag partings
Your hair very flat and very loose (or secretly in a low bun). And the detail is of course the zigzag parting. Made with a fine comb and super tight.
