Simone’s Ibiza Diary
It is already day seven of my somewhat delayed summer vacation and at the moment of typing I find myself in Ibiza (where I have never been before, does that still exist?) According to May and Jet, it is really a spot for me, because you won't find anything more happy & healthy. And I must give it to them: they are right, it is paradise relaxed here.
When I finally arrived at Amayzine at the editorial office, it was clear: I had to book a ticket. Where Kiki had to rush to Paris on orders from the boss because she was a Paris virgin , I had to get to Ibiza very quickly. So I decided to book a week right away, as a kind of self-invented work initiation. And after seven days I can tell all the Ibiza addicts: I get you, you know. Because of the sun, the peace (or not), the delicious food and especially because it is so mega close. Because what is two hours of flying anyway?
“Completely zen”
The intention was to do absolutely nothing on this vacation. Just to take some rest. On a bed in the sun. With a few grains of sand between my toes here and there. The doing nothing almost succeeded. Because yes, I am and remain an early bird and so my automatic clock woke me up every morning at exactly 7:45 AM. Then I happily hopped out of bed to quickly catch that sunrise while running. I can't actually wish for a better start to the day and okay, the fact that I could immediately burn off the dessert and sangria from the night before was also a nice bonus...
My afternoons usually consisted of cruising around the island, picking up as many bays and beaches as possible. Stopping at that nice bohemian shop by the side of the road. So the few hours of rain on Sunday morning were no disaster. After that, the beach made way for a round of Ibiza Town. And after the afternoon I returned with bags full of pleated skirts, beautiful woolen scarves and a cashmere sweater. Long live the big Spanish chains...
Before I return to the Dutch autumn, I enjoy the view of Es Vedra for a moment, have a cup of coffee at Yo and Wes, and come on, I’ll have a nice sangria by the sea tonight. And I already know that on Boxing Day I will do exactly the same as May: book another ticket. Absolutely. Because Ibiza has also conquered my heart.
