The 10 things you recognize when you love wearing heels

Look. I love heels. Very, very much. They make you tall and beautiful and they make you look slimmer. But let's be honest, it's not always a grand and captivating party to wear heels. Here are the ten things that go through my mind when I wear heels. Or want to wear them. You probably recognize it.

1. Today, heels are my only salvation.

Because today, dear people, I have a fat day. And on fat days, heels are my only support and refuge. They make you slimmer in a flash and what else can you say about that? There are no weight loss programs that help you lose three kilos in an afternoon, right?.

2. It's sad that my absolute prettiest heels also hurt the most.

Unfortunately, I was convinced by the saleswoman that the pain would go away over time. That there are special insoles for sale. And that shoes always stretch a bit. But it turned out to be a very deceitful saleswoman.

3. Observation: unfortunately, you still have to walk in sitting shoes.

You know what it is with sitting shoes? No matter how hard you try to avoid it, you often still have to walk in them at some point. To the bathroom (if you're sitting in a restaurant), to the taxi, to your front door. Moreover, sitting shoes have the habit of also being your absolute prettiest shoes ever, which means you wear them at least three times against your better judgment to a dance party or a wedding. Not exactly wise decisions, I just wanted to mention that.

4. Did you know you can faint from painful shoes?.

I once fainted when I was wearing too high heels. Okay, almost. It was fashion week in Amsterdam, and there was a ridiculously long line. It started with a throbbing, stabbing pain in the ball of my right foot, but gradually the pain became more intense and horrible, and my left foot also started to feel unwell. I couldn't think of anything else but those terrible shoes and was daydreaming about taking them off. But taking off your shoes at fashion week is, of course, an absolute no-go. So what could I do? Just bite the bullet. Until at some point it became unbearable and it went black before my eyes and I had to recover on a bench. Under the watchful eye of snickering fashion people. And YES, I lost my place in line.

5. Heels. From a feminist perspective, it's actually a terrible thing.

But that's for another time.

6. In principle, heels always fit.

No matter how thick or thin you are. And that's why I think women have so many heels. This also applies to bags.

7. I have 26 pairs of heels, but it's sale.

And you know what? I really don't have a single nice pair for under my new yellow dress from Vanilia. Except for those Chloé pumps, but I can't keep wearing those forever. How awful! How awful! Now I have to buy new ones. Very awful. #moehahaha

8. I know I should invest in basics and not in flashy shoes.

Every time I get my salary deposited, I know: I should buy a few good basics. But I also know: with one nice pair of heels, I give my entire wardrobe, or well, at least that one dress, a great lift. And so I give in every time and buy another pair of heels. Which means I have very few basics and always too few pants and so on. But I do have heels. Exhausting, exhausting. Yes, I don't know how to solve it either.

9. So I want such a beautiful shoe cabinet.

One like you see on Insta. My shoes are all over the house. I trip over my shoes every day. You would almost think I have too many pairs of shoes, but that's really not the case. Solution: shoe cabinet. Plan: arrange a free carpenter.

10. Oh yes, I say: with every pair of heels, there should be a pair of flats in the same style.

This is really a great idea because then you can easily swap your heels for a pair of comfortable friends at the end of the day/the party, without looking ridiculous. Yes, I'm also impressed by the idea. And the best part? You can now scour the entire internet for the nicest flats. FUN!
