THE 3 MOST IMPORTANT CHRISTMAS TRENDS
(at the last minute the most beautiful home)
If you want to give your home (and garden) an extra shot of Christmas spirit, we have the best inspiration here. We called Menno Kroon, one of the best florists in the country, to shed some light on decorating in his 2016 style.
1. Do what you like
”I always find it very important that everyone should do what they themselves enjoy. Add your own touch to it. At Christmas, anything goes. Let yourself go if you want to be completely over the top. But if you want to be understated chic, that can also be very beautiful, as long as it suits you.”
2. Lights, lights, and more lights
”What we see a lot this year is lots of lights from electric to fun glass tealights. Especially for outdoors. You can make the bare outdoor table cozy with little trees and beautiful pots with Helleborus plants. The outdoor scene that you can see from your home is incredibly nice. Especially because after Christmas it is still nice to look at. Beautiful candle lanterns are very suitable for this.”

3. Full, fuller, fullest
”As for the Christmas tree, the fuller, the better. The collection from all the years can go in the tree. So you get a truly rich beautifully decorated tree, where each ornament has its own story. The most charming trend is that parents come back with their children every year to choose something for the tree. The children thus get their own collection that they take with them when they move out on their own. For the tree, everything is inspired by nature. Fruit, insects, vegetables, birds, animals, and so on. You see a lot of green, copper, gold, and brown tones this year, but always with a bit of glitter on it.’
Looking for some last-minute eye-catchers for your tree? Menno Kroon is open from Monday to Saturday from 09:00 – 18:00 at Cornelis Schuytstraat 11 in Amsterdam.
