The fifteen things I thought when I turned 35

Yeah, I was also shocked that I am 35. But I say: old is the new young. Thirty is the new twenty. Forty is the new thirty. And if you don't agree with that, you just have to read another post get lost! Anyways, this is what I thought when I turned 35.

1. From now on, I officially have the right to a new designer bag. Because if you're really an adult (and let's face it, when you're 35 there's no turning back) you just need a new designer bag. As a reward for all the hard work of the past years, so to speak.

2. But HOW am I going to arrange that? Because I'm broke. Which is quite sad at 35.

3. Should I throw a party in honor of my 35th birthday and then ask for money for my bag? Mm. There's just one problem. The last time I had a birthday, I also asked for money, but for a tattoo, and to be honest, I never got that done. I let the money go up in smoke. Or better said: drank it away. What if they ask about the tattoo?

4. I still have a fear of driving. Look, when I was young I could hide behind the fact that I was still young and naive and inexperienced, but now I'm becoming more and more a pathetic case with an anxiety disorder.

5. Can you still wear a short skirt when you're 35? They say you can't.

6. Doesn't matter, I'm too fat for a short skirt anyway, what the hell are we talking about.

7. I just need to invest in jewelry and bags and shoes, because those always fit. Even after your 35th. But then I come back to the fact that I have no money.

”Not something with typing bits and nonsense on the side, but something with communication specialist at a bank or something”

8. Maybe I need a decent job. Not something with typing bits and nonsense on the side, but something with communication specialist at a bank or something. I hear the rates are super high there.

9. But I have no experience in banking.

10. Still, I think that after your 35th you should be quick with a potential career switch.

11. Oh. Money isn't everything, I've learned that much in this life. And neither is a career. No, it's about having people around you who are kind and fun, with whom you do nice things, and experience happy moments. And: it’s the inside that counts.

12. Oh, how WISE I am. Maybe I'm an old soul? Do they have tests for that?

13. I really need a personal trainer by the way. Because I'm not going to be a chubby when I turn forty.

14. By the way, I really need to start reading more quickly. I only hang out on Facebook and increasingly find myself embarrassed at parties where well-read people come. Seriously, well-read people are suddenly everywhere.

15. Well, first I’ll create an event for myself on Facebook. And I’ll just ask for money. You have to learn to stand up for yourself a bit when you hit 35.
