It's cold and dark, so why go out of your warm cozy house when you can have the best evening at home? Invite a group of friends, prepare a good cheese platter and enough wine, and bring in the following Old Dutch games and there you have it; the perfect evening is born.

Werewolves

To start with my favorite. This game makes me so bloodthirsty that I almost have no friends left. The group sits in a circle, a game leader is appointed, and the rest gets a role. You can read the full explanation here. Recently, I was with a group of friends in the Ardennes and we played this all evening. By the end of the trip, I had lost my voice, but man oh man, was it fun.

Cluedo

A bit more of your wits for this game, please. It gets harder the more people you play with and thus also more fun.

A dead simple children's game that becomes very fun when you add a drinking element. You can read the full explanation here.

The Settlers of Catan

Yes. I have to confess something. I don't know how this game works. Seriously, never played it. But everyone loves it and I need to sneak in some lessons very soon. Volunteers in the room?

Doctor Bibber

Aaaah, such a classic, but also here: add a drinking rule and you have the greatest fun. If you make a mistake, you take a shot, and yes, that sounds very vulgar but #yolo, because it's fantastic.
