HOW TO BEAT THE 4 PM SLUMP
We all have it: the 4 PM slump at the office. Sometimes it hits harder than other times, but the fact remains that your concentration reaches its lowest level around four or half past four. And then it's just time for a #mybreak. I'll tell you how:
1. Do the 7 minute workout 2.0. Simone just taught me how to ideally train your leg muscles during office days. Here it comes: squat down as if you're sitting on your heels, hold this position, and walk around in a squat. In other words: the frogwalk.
2. Laugh your socks off at YouTube videos of babies who are in fits of giggles. Seriously, you won't be able to keep a straight face. And you'll feel a bit more awake right away.
3. Many people underestimate the power of oxygen in their body. Feeling sluggish? It might be that you could use a bit more oxygen in your brain and body. So take a moment to take a few deep breaths, hold your breath for a moment, and then exhale slowly. This way, you ensure that your blood becomes rich in fresh oxygen again. Even better if you do this outside, of course.
You'll feel fresh and perky again
4. Neem een pauze, neem een KitKat®. Always helps me. So that. Or grab something else to nibble on that makes you active. The fruit sugars from an apple are also immediately absorbed by your body, by the way.
5. Start your day with a power breakfast. Nothing better than a good start full of energy, carbohydrates, and proteins. You'll also suffer less from that afternoon slump. Oh, and maybe even better: have a modest lunch. That always works for me too. And then you can always have something to nibble on afterwards (see point 4).
6. Keep a rosemary or mint plant at the office. The scent of these plants actually boosts energy. Rub through them every now and then to awaken the scent even more.
7. Touch up your makeup. It really works like a charm. You'll feel fresh and perky again right away.
8. Not succeeded yet? Put some hard pump-up music in your ears and dance a little. Jet is a master chef at coming up with dance moves during our break. Good luck!
