THIS IS THE HAIRSTYLIST OF KIM, KENDALL, CARA, REESE AND CHRISSY
And these are her 7 secrets
Maybe the name Jen Atkin doesn't mean much to you or maybe even nothing at all, but you can be sure that you know everyone whose hair she does… and whose hair you would love to have; Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Lopez. If you see an A-lister with hair you would die for, you can bet that Jen Atkin is the mastermind behind the hairstyle.
Jen is also the ambassador of the Dyson Supersonic™, also known as the Birkin bag among blow dryers because what a fantastic device that is. Most blowing power, light in the hand, no suction at the back (so you don't suddenly suck in a burnt strand of hair into your dryer) and, well, many more great benefits that you all here can read.
With such a dryer, styling hair all day is a party. And to spread the gospel of good hair, Jen shares her tips.
1. Don't use too many products
Unless you have particularly thin and little hair, but otherwise too many products actually work against you. They weigh your hair down, causing your entire creation to droop in no time.
2. Don't go to the hairdresser too often
If you have a bad hair week (yes, that is the sum of several bad hair days), you probably think right away that you need to go to the hairdresser. But let it rest for a bit and it might just be that a week later it looks fantastic again.
3. Never curl the ends
That makes it look frumpy and very much like ‘Little House on the Prairie’. Curl your strand but stop at the bottom so that the tip stays straight.
If you see an A-lister with hair you would die for, you can bet that Jen Atkin is the mastermind behind the hairstyle.
4. Use different sizes of curling irons
This way, each curl is a different size and looks nicely casual.
5. Go big or go home
This especially applies to brides. Go for big hair; in photos, everything looks thicker except your hair. Sorry. Jen's tip is to put your hair up (because then it still looks good when you twirl across the dance floor) or to use clip-in hair extensions. For volume and it stays better in place.
6. Eyeshadow on your scalp
Some people have an extremely white scalp and it can look a bit odd if you part your hair tightly, for example. Then apply some eyeshadow to that white scalp. Jen's tip is Color Wow Root Cover Up.
7. The ‘always good’ hairstyle in two minutes
Is your hair not looking good and do you want an instant facelift? Then do the sleek side bun. Jen's secret. Put some oil in your hair, make an asymmetrical parting with a slightly wider strand falling along one side of your face, and make a low, tight bun at the nape of your neck. Secure it with pins and spray a little hairspray so nothing comes loose. Instant chic.
