HERE YOU HAVE BEEN LONGING FOR YOUR WHOLE LIFE

The perfect hairdryer exists

Since I was thirteen (that's already thirty years), I've been blow-drying my hair about every other day. That means, 365 divided by two times 30, a rough five and a half thousand blow-dry sessions. And all those five thousand times I asked myself the following questions.

One: why does that thing make such an awful lot of noise? Two: why is that thing so heavy? Three: why, damn it, do I always suck hair into the back of the hairdryer that I then have to yank out in a scorched state? And four: why does that thing make so much noise? Oh, I already said that.

“You know, the man who was concerned about vacuum cleaners and then built his perfect vacuum cleaner (bagless) in his garden shed”

That's how it goes every time until I suddenly ended up in hair heaven a few weeks ago. A hairdryer has been developed that meets all my hair wishes. The creator of this divine thing is Mr. Dyson. You know, the man who was concerned about vacuum cleaners and then built his perfect vacuum cleaner (bagless) in his garden shed. Meanwhile, Dyson has become a multi-million dollar company that produces all over the world. Vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, (heating) fans, but now also a hairdryer. What am I saying; THE hairdryer. And I am enchanted. Because...

The Dyson Supersonic makes no noise. Well, it produces a bit of sound, but you can have a conversation while blow-drying and since we women come to extremely existential insights in front of the mirror and since we blow-dry for a rough 205,000 minutes in our lives (simple calculation: 75 blow-dryable years in which we blow-dry 182 times a year and that on average for a quarter of an hour), it’s quite nice to be able to keep conversing in between.

Then the temperature. The Dyson Supersonic does not get hotter than 140 degrees. That is the perfect magical boundary between the right temperature to style your hair and the heat from the hairdryer so that your hair just doesn't burn.

You shouldn't talk about the weight of a lady and I won't do that either, but the distribution of the weight is essential. With the Dyson Supersonic, the motor is in the handle instead of at the back of the blowing part. Therefore, it is much more balanced and feels so much easier.

Then just two more celebratory facts. Due to a special suction action (I'll spare you the technical explanation mainly because I uh, have kind of forgotten how it works exactly), the hairdryer blows three times more air than another hairdryer. And there is a very fine mesh around the suction part so that you cannot possibly suck up your own hair.

I have longed and yearned for thirty years and five and a half thousand sessions, but here it is: my ideal hairdryer. For everyone who wants it now: from September, the Dyson Supersonic will be available in beauty retail.
