This is what you can expect when you go to a spa

It was my first time. At least, I had been there before, but that was swimwear day. Not this time. Now, I'm not really prudish, but I was more apprehensive about seeing other people naked. To gawk, I mean. Come on, you look, right? And that indeed took some getting used to. I was with a seasoned spa-going friend, so she took me by the hand. And that was necessary because this is what happens when you go to a spa naked for the first time.

– If you go on the weekend (like I did), you end up in a kind of zoo. That's how it feels. Hundreds (yes, really HUNDREDS) of naked people. That's quite a shock.

– It's appropriate to wrap a towel around yourself between saunas, but don't count on it. Most people mainly use it to walk around naked.

– I don't want to brag, but for a dose of confidence, you're in the right place here. You'll encounter huge butts, breasts, and bellies.

– You see a lot of couples, many older couples too.

– Don't be surprised by couples sitting a bit close to each other in the pool. They are naked, yes, but they aren't doing anything weird. At least...

– Don't be startled by the older men. And their butts (which tend to sag).

– Just smile sweetly at everyone and keep looking them straight in the eye. Not down. They don't do that either.

– You can eat extensively and deliciously there. Super healthy salads and smoothies, but also sushi and fries. And even wine.

– You're going to sweat like crazy. The plunge pools are your salvation.

- Make sure to set aside a day (at least six hours) for your spa visit. If you dive in completely, you'll be occupied for hours and it's wonderful. Just those long lanky people around me... I don't think I'll get used to that.

– You feel completely zen and relaxed after such a day.

– Plan this with a girlfriend. And try not to laugh. Promise?
