THIS BANG SUITS YOUR FACE
In the past, it was quite clear here in the editorial team, you had team pro-bang (Kiki and I) and team no-bang (Jet, May and actually the rest of the editorial team). Nowadays, I swing a bit in between. I'm no longer a convincing bang wearer (hello curtain!), but I always enjoy draping some strands over my forehead. And then there's also the fluctuation in trends that makes me wander. Pff, what should I do now?
Well then. Bangs are just a little thing. I don't think there's a girl on earth who has never had bangs. Everyone has tried it at least once, right? If not, go for it! Because bangs suit everyone, you just have to see which variant fits you best.
Round face
Go for a side bang. A straight bang makes your face look fuller, while a side bang takes a bit of volume away from your face. Also, make sure your bang softly blends into the rest of your hair. Hard lines only accentuate your face shape.
Square face
Go for a layered bang: nice and full, falling just over the eyebrows. Make sure it's layered (so no straight line), because layers make the shape of your bang look softer, which also brings more calmness to your face. If you go for straight lines, they only emphasize the square shape of your face. If you have a layered bang cut, it also means the sides can be longer. That's nice because they then fall over your cheekbones.
“I don't think there's a girl on earth who has never had bangs.”
Oval face
Yaaa, you can handle quite a lot. Straight, hard lines, a slightly too short bang; everything looks good on you. Long live your bang party.
Rectangular face
You can easily fake that you have an oval face, for example by letting the bangs be a bit longer on the sides. And a curtain bang (Alexa Chung gives you all the inspiration) looks especially good on you.
Heart-shaped face
With a heart-shaped face, your forehead is often a bit longer. Then a bang can really work well. Go for a longer, layered bang, because then your head looks just a bit smaller. This way, you easily take something away from your face.
It's clear that I was still quite searching for my face shape in my life, because I've had about everything I wrote above. Hysterical. Or my shape just changes every year. It's all in how you look at it.
