Normally, I get laughed at hard when I come up with ‘something’ digital (I am the digi-senior of the editorial team), but today I made quite an impression. It has everything to do with WhatsApp. As the first of us WhatsApp-addicted team, I was able to share the WhatsApp updates.

Has your iPhone been updated? Then you can do all of this from now on.

1. Writing words in italics. Place a _ before and after the word you want to italicize.

2. Making words bold. Place a * before and after the word you want to make bold.

3. This is the most fun. A strikethrough dash before and after the word you want to cross out.

I showed the possibilities during the meeting and immediately decided to send a sample of my skills to Liesbeth because she was working from home. I was super proud, juggling with italic words, making things bold, and crossing out Jet to replace it with Joss. Oh, I was having such a good time and how proud Lies would be of me.

“Um, May,” she responded. “What are you fiddling with stars and dashes for?” I hold Lies in high regard when it comes to technical ingenuity and being ahead of the troops, so I thought she completely understood me and knew the codes by heart… Until she sent a screenshot of how the messages came in for her. Uncoded, so indeed with dashes and stars in front.

“Lies, you’re behind. And you don’t know the new WhatsApp rules and your phone isn’t updated.” Guys, I’m spinning behind my computer and beaming with pride.
