Improve your life
THIS WAY YOU CAN SAVE ON FOOD
Then you'll have money left over for that expensive bag
Are you saving for something nice? A piece of clothing or something nice for the house? Then you can keep your wallet closed for a while when you walk through Zara and H&M. And you can also save a bit on food. As long as the quality is guaranteed, but that's logical. So you shouldn't suddenly buy super cheap fish and meat, no, be a little kind to yourself. There are plenty of ways to shop that leave you with something left over for, for example, those Jimmy Choobiker boots, in my case. Here they come.
– Buy your vegetables and fruit from the local greengrocer instead of the supermarket. Vegetables and fruit are often cheaper (and tastier!) there. Unless you go to the vegetable jeweler in Cornelis Schuyt in Amsterdam, of course. Then you might as well go to the Appie.
– Never go grocery shopping when you're really hungry. Seriously, you'll throw so much in your cart that you might not actually need and you'll never finish it.
– Go on a bargain hunt, check the Bonus leaflet for what's on sale and let that inspire your dinner.
– Make a list in advance, then you can race through the supermarket and forget nothing. And if you really don't know what to eat, let yourself be inspired by what's on sale. Win-win.
– Prefer to buy whole pieces of vegetables and fruit rather than pre-cut ones. How much work is it really? It's cheaper and truly tastier.
– Sometimes bend down a bit. The most expensive products are often at eye level.
– Check the expiration date of the product. Also, take a look all the way at the back of the shelf, because that's where the products with the longest shelf life are. For milk, take the last pack in the row.
