TRENDS WAAR MANNEN VAN GRUWEN
So annoying, I come home happy with my newly purchased item and show it to my husband, and I see him looking: how can you wear that? When I explain that this is really very much in fashion and that this is the must-have item for this summer, he wonders aloud why I have to participate in that. Well, what do you do then? I set it aside and wear my new acquisition with just as much pleasure. But I realize that men really look at clothes differently than we women do. I ask around and hear from friends that they experience this too. So here’s a list of items that men really cringe at. Tip: wear this to a night out with the girls, but not when you’re going somewhere with your love.

1. Boyfriend denim
We feel so sexy in the loose, sagging jeans around our butts, casually worn with a sweater and a pair of sneakers. But take it from me; men really do not find this attractive at all. No, not even with a pair of high-heeled boots underneath.
2. Sandaal met platformzool
I always find it nice, a shoe with a platform underneath, it saves another four centimeters in length after all. Now, a sandal is already a tricky thing for men, read: not sexy. And if there’s also such a clunky sole underneath, he would rather see a nice sneaker under your dress. Well.
3. Gucci-girl look
No matter how enthusiastic the fashion press was about the new Gucci collection; an eccentric mix and match of color, material, and vintage prints, shown on a nerd type with XL glasses, the men around me really don’t give us a second glance when we wrap ourselves in these sexless clothes with way too many accessories. They find us pretentious and totally unattractive.

Okay, I honestly admit that I often wear them at home with a sneaker or a slipper because I sometimes run back and forth there. But when I’m at the editorial office, I naturally wear my high heels with platform underneath and I always get told that I look so nice. But the flared ones won’t work if you want admiring glances.

Out with the traditional shorts, capris, and culottes. The must-have item for this summer is the bermuda. So nice to wear with a bomber jacket and an oversized blouse. But the men don’t agree with this. They can’t find themselves in this trend. Even with a flat lace-up shoe or a trendy sandal underneath, this won’t be a match.
6. The mid-lenght rok
I think it’s super, that skirt that falls to mid-calf, slim at the waist and loose around the hips. You wear this with a simple shirt, a short loose jacket, and of course with a heel underneath. ‘Oh, you mean that tea cozy skirt?‘ says my love when I ask about it. No, not a success, but luckily I still have the receipt.
