In 11 points catch up on The Voice
Were you watching yesterday? I was, you know. Drink on the left, notes app on the right, ready for The Voice. And with me, 2.9 million others, because The Voice broke another record. For those who didn't see it, and for those who did (because that's actually more fun): a The Voice recap in 11 extremely important points.
1. First of all, heart heart heart for Sanne who, stuttering and stumbling, tries to talk someone into her team and says: “I don't sound convincing when I stutter.” Did I already say heart heart heart?
2. Was it just me or did the jury spend the whole evening turning around simultaneously?
3. Now let's talk about Oumnia Guigui, the Moroccan girl who sang ‘Good God’ in her, um, how shall I put this, rather tight jumpsuit. After her performance, Waylon said: “I know what you need.” Well, so do I. A pair of pants in a larger size (yes yes yes, I'm already standing in the corner).
4. Speaking of appearance, what did you think of John Vooijs, also known as the guy with the beanie? Now, I can appreciate a beanie from time to time, walking through Vondelpark on a crisp autumn day, but on a stage under the lights where it's about 27 degrees?
5. How good was Dilana Smith who sang ‘Roxanne’?Do you know how embarrassed I was that when I heard her sing during the introduction, I still had all sorts of comments about that diving goggles on her head that was also deliberately set a bit crooked when she started singing? And rapping? When her little daughter then sang ‘Wheels On The Bus’, I was crying in the corner. Out of admiration AND embarrassment.
6. How sweet was Waylon with this Dilana? And how sweet were his tears?
7. Do you also have that feeling, that when you see Waylon singing along in his chair, you actually prefer to hear him rather than the one on stage? I only had that with Dilana and Yerry Rellum (he sang ‘Crazy’, remember?) not.
8. Oh Ali, it's: you blew me off my chair. Not blew. Blew.
9. The new policy of the makers is to not comment on people who weren't turned. I totally understand, because why would you tear that wound open further? In the case of Tim Verhaal (you know, the guy with the blue hair) I would have made an exception, because he really still thinks he can sing well. And, Tim, I don't know, but these are blind auditions. I would just stay upright next time instead of sinking down intellectually through your knees, because that didn't do your singing performance any good.
10. Wasn't Martijn really on fire with Dilana's daughter, Nicky's sister and everything? I like him.
11. Then one more point for Guus. At the beginning of the show, I thought a bit: well, Guus. I mean, that pick-up line of ‘you have the palette and I have the canvas and together we make a beautiful painting’ you didn't think was one of your strongest phrases, I hope? But the joke of the evening, of course, came from Guus who said to Danny Kalima: ‘You've made a long journey.’ To which Danny replied: ‘But you did too, I understood. By train.’
Guys, I'll be ready again on Friday. You too? Next week again for a recap. Same time, same place?
