9 REASONS WHY YOU'RE HAPPY WITH DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME

The last official summer hours have begun. The hour we had to give up in the summer we get back tonight. Daylight saving time is coming. Now we can complain about the fact that we spend exactly those few hours when it's light outside in the office, but really, I've looked for and found benefits.

1. To start with the extra hour of sleep tomorrow. Why would you complain about that? You can enjoy an extra hour of spookiness during Halloween tomorrow.

2. What I find a huge plus is that I no longer have to get on my bike in the dark in the morning. Because that really feels like the middle of the night, right? Especially since I then have to navigate the Rembrandtplein, and I've already had the first drunk tourists under my bike. There you are, fresh and fruity on your bike.

3. It's earlier happy hour. Because dark means happy hour, May shouts from behind her laptop. Maybe it's a good idea to stock up on wine at the office?

4. It's totally okay to light the fireplace in the morning (if you have one, of course). Cozy breakfast with a crackling fire in the background. Only to smell like a campfire all day long. But who cares? For those of us without a fireplace: a scented candle works just as well in daylight saving time.

5. You can binge The Affair in peace without that gnawing feeling that you're missing out on something on the terrace. No more FOMO's and that brings quite a bit of peace.

6. You can finally get to that reading list that has become endless.

7. For some of us (hello May), it's a good time to style your little home. Cozy cocooning in your den.

8. The GTs can be parked and the Chardonnay can stay put. It's time for apple cider and mulled wine. And I find that quite cozy.

9. You can start playing Christmas music from now on. Enjoy playing Wham! without shame and singing along with Mariah. We'll see about getting tired of the jingling by the time Christmas Eve arrives. We have a whole year to detox.
