Why it's a good idea to binge-watch this vlogger all day

So far, there are still very few vloggers that I really like. I mostly watch channels out of schadenfreude because they are so cringingly bad and I can find stupid things about them the whole time. Very childish, I know, but let me be. In general, I just find it incredibly uninteresting to follow someone's week all the time. “Just don't watch it then,” you might think, and that's exactly what I do. I hardly follow any vloggers. I just don’t care.

Until I came across Casey Neistat's channel. Casey is an American filmmaker from New York, where he lives in TriBeCa with his wife Candice and baby Francine. His studio is in SoHo, on Broadway, and he experiences all kinds of insanely cool stuff. He documents that in his daily vlogs. That’s right, every day a vlog. He launched an app some time ago (Beme, a kind of cross between Snapchat and Periscope), makes films and commercials for big brands, produces the vlog of bestie Karlie Kloss, does things with his wife and child, and edits his vlogs at night. So he hardly ever sleeps. Heart for the job, ’I’m truly doing what I love“ and that kind of American one-liners.

But however it may be, I am crazy about his vlogs. At the time of writing, vlog 336 has just gone online and I watched the first 125 vlogs in one day last weekend. Back to back. So a full binge-watching session. This weekend I hope to catch up, so that from now on I can look forward to another new episode every day just like his over two million (!) subscribers.

Look, Casey obviously has an advantage over ‘regular’ vloggers because he is a professional filmmaker and is therefore super skilled at editing his videos in a flashy way. But aside from that, he also understands that you have to show things instead of just telling them all the time. So many vloggers hold long monologues in front of the camera about what they are going to do that day, but then we see none of it. Casey just takes you along and every day we get to see the highlights of his day in 8 minutes. He also has a few segments. For example, there is “Mail time” where he opens the insane amount of fan mail and “Ask me anything” where he answers questions posed on Twitter.

He got to vlog at the MET Gala, is as mentioned best friends with Karlie Kloss, has the cutest baby ever. And even though he is not necessarily the most handsome, he has something attractive about him. In short, Casey is amazing. Check out his channel here and make sure to sit down for a while.
