why you should go away for a weekend more often

Last week I was in Paris for four days for Amayzine. On Thursday evening I came home and on Friday morning I flew away again, this time heading to Venice. And that was not for work, but for myself.

Friday morning there and Sunday evening back. Now I work as a freelancer and I therefore have no official vacation days, but even if you can only be away for 25 days a year, one of those free Fridays is almost always possible. And that is really, really a very good idea for the following reasons.

#1
Especially if you go a bit further south, it is almost always a few degrees warmer and that is of course always lovely. Finding a windstill spot, sun on your head, glass of wine in front of you: nothing more to do.

#2
If you choose Venice or Rome for example, or something else nice in Italy, then you can suddenly eat ridiculously delicious pizzas and antipasti for almost three whole days. Just that alone is a great reason to get on the plane. But go ahead, French baguette and cheese are also a prrrrrima choice.

#3
You might think: ‘Whoa, that's really expensive.’ Well, that's not the case at all. If you book a bit cleverly with Transavia or easyJet, you can be in a European city for a very reasonable amount. in a European city.

#4
Just parking the troubles and hustle of your daily life works best in a world that is not yours. As in: a different city. Really, you'll see: you come back feeling reborn.

#5
Have you been lacking time for your girlfriends for a long time? Or maybe you need a romantic weekend with your loved one? Instead of meeting again in the tent where you always go, be spontaneous and head towards Antwerp/Paris/you name it.
