24 hours in Paris

This is actually just a 24-hour food fest in Paris, because I made a list of my favorite eateries du moment in the city of love. And speaking of 24 hours: do yourself a favor and just make it a long weekend. And if you want some tips on where to go; I’ve lined up a few of my favorites for you. Here they come:

Maison Sauvage

5 Rue de Buci in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

This is my latest discovery when I was in Paris last weekend. Read here just why it’s worth a visit.

Le Saint Germain

62 Rue du Back at Boulevard de Saint Germain

A favorite of the Wijnands family. This is just around the corner from the official residence where I used to live with my family and the nice thing here is that it’s mainly locals you see here. In terms of the menu, it’s actually exactly the same as in most cafés in Paris, but without the ridiculously high prices you often see at the slightly more famous names in the city.

Le Favorite

6 Rue de Rivoli in Le Marais

Le Favorite is also really a favorite of your editors. We were often found here when we were in the city of love for our previous magazine. Swap that glass of wine for a Dandy Martini (worth it, I promise) with a cheese platter. I wanted to write: you feel like you’re in Paris, but you’re already in Paris so it can’t be helped that you’re sitting there with a big fat smile on your face.

Cafe Charlot

38 Rue de Bretagne in Le Marais

Honestly? You don’t necessarily have to come here for the food, but the location is top. Especially during fashion months, because then you see one fashion vixen after another walking by. And if you want to do Paris like a real Parisienne, then you definitely have to stop by here.

Jaja

3 Rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie in Le Marais

We’re staying a bit longer in Le Marais and also leaving the authentic French look for something modern at Jaja. A wine bar with more than 75 different types of wine and a menu that is very seasonal with something for everyone.

La Belle Epoque

36 Rue des Petits-Champs at Palais Royal

This was a tip from a friend of mine who is just as obsessed with the French capital as I am. In terms of interior, it exactly radiates the name of the establishment with some stained glass and tiles from the 19th century here and there, but then trendy à la 2017. Okay, sounds a bit complicated, but go here for du vin.

Les Maquereaux

Quai de l’Hôtel de Ville at Hôtel de Ville

Again a discovery from last weekend and I really recommend this to everyone. Especially in the summer, because then you also have the most beautiful sunset as part of the decor. Les Maquereaux is a hospitality establishment on the water on a boat and although I only slurped oysters and drank Moscow Mules here; if you’re a fish lover, I would definitely stop by here.

Hôtel Amour & Grand Amour Hôtel

8 Rue de Navarin in the 9th and 18 Rue de la Fidélité in the 10th

Because in the city of love you also have to seek out love. From a pink palace in the garden of Grand Amour Hôtel to a jungle-like courtyard at the other. These hotels are an Instagram heaven. And if you’re still looking for an über-cool hotel to stay: book a room at one of these two.

Le Hibou

16 Carrefour de l’Odéon at Odéon

Once you’re inside, you actually get a sort of London vibe in terms of styling with stuffed birds and those brown leather Chesterfield sofas, but you also find one of the nicest terraces in the whole city here. Menu tip: crevettes sautées à la thaï with a glass of Chablis. Santé!
