3 TREATS THAT SCORE

I gave birth to two daughters in three weeks. Yes, there were of course three years in between, smart aleck, but girl two was born on May 24 and girl three on June 15. As if that wasn't enough crafting and fiddling, girl one is changing schools (read here but from the hat and the rim) and she is also going to treat. I woke up my inner Martha Stewart (you know, the one from Snoop Dogg) and found three pretty good (and achievable) treats. I'm sharing them with you because you're sure to be happy with them.

1. The uninhabited island

Take an egg cake and a picture of a palm tree. You glue that picture onto a long skewer and the skewer, rapapa: you stick it into the cake (which you place with the rounded side up). To finish it off, you craft a wave from a blue sour mat that you hold together with a skewer. Optionally, you can style the cake with a treasure chest and you're done. On to number two.

2. The princess and the rocket

Buy cupcake holders, marshmallows in all shapes and sizes, long skewers, and colored and black licorice laces. We're going to make a his and hers. For the girls, you thread the cupcake holder upside down onto the skewer. Look, now you suddenly have a skirt. Then you thread a long oval marshmallow onto the stick and finish it off with a small round marshmallow with a flat front. That will be the head. From colored licorice laces, you make hair, which you attach with candy glue. Draw a little face on it with icing pen and ta-da. Now for the boys. First, thread a long marshmallow and then a diamond-shaped marshmallow that you cut in half. Tie a knot at the bottom with the licorice lace so it looks like a fuse. Stick all the skewers into a half watermelon that you have wrapped in aluminum foil and you are the heroine of the day.

3. This one is for dummies

This can't go wrong. Buy licorice heads and monkey heads, English licorice, and cherry candies. Oh yes, and small skewers. At the bottom, you thread the cherry candy, pulling the two cherries apart. Hey, they suddenly became legs. Then one or two square English licorice pieces as a body. Next, you stick in another cherry candy that you have split in half (yes: arms) and finally, you stick a licorice or monkey head on top and you're done.

Was I the one who was so busy yesterday about the weight of children? Seriously? But not today. Today is a celebration.
