7 healthy oils for your bathroom
Coconut oil, olive oil, sesame oil; we all have one of these in our kitchen. And if we don't throw it in the pan, we toss it in a salad or use it as a base for a sauce. But one thing is for sure: we use it too little for our body. And especially at this time of year, our skin could use some extra nourishment. Besides the pot of coconut oil that works well in winter, there are many more types that deserve a spot on the shelf above the sink.
1. Jojoba
The Indians and Aztecs already used this wonderful oil for its medicinal, antibacterial properties in skin diseases and inflammations. You absolutely don't have to worry about your skin shining and feeling greasy with this oil. The oil is rich in vitamin E, is easily absorbed without clogging your pores, and is therefore ideal for oily skin.
2. Tea Tree
Another miracle remedy is Tea Tree Oil, an essential oil derived from the leaves of the tea tree. Aboriginals from Australia used the finely ground leaves of the Tea Tree centuries ago for various skin ailments due to its healing properties. Even today, the antibacterial oil is applied to purify and cleanse the skin. Ideal if you have a pimple here or there. Apply it in the evening, it's better for the one next to you.
3. Camelia
This oil is extracted from the seeds of the tea tree fruit. This nourishing and moisture-regulating oil softens, protects, and relaxes very dry skin and is an ancient Japanese beauty secret against dark circles. Give me a bottle of that.
4. Rice bran
A vitamin cocktail of B and E, which also contains a hefty dose of gamma-oryzanol. Gamma-what? This powerful antioxidant fights aging and also stimulates collagen production. So, wipe away those wrinkles.
5. Marula
A very popular natural remedy in Africa and now also on the rise in skincare. It is the perfect thirst quencher for a moisture-deprived skin and also improves elasticity and texture. The anti-aging must-have therefore.
6. Avocado
Ideal for dry and irritated skin. Works nourishing, but especially anti-inflammatory. And you can also use the bottle perfectly in the kitchen as a base for your vinaigrette.
7. Hemp seed
Could your skin use a subtle glow without you being able to use it as a mirror? Then start dripping with hemp seed oil. It gives dull skin a boost and also works well against inflammation.
