7 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE SUPER BOWL

I've been walking around all week in a New York Giants sweater. Not because I'm such a huge fan of theirs – if you ask me who is on the team, you won't get much from me – and that Super Bowl final today? They aren't in it either. But the blue color of the sweater looks so good with my eyes if I may say so. And I find the colors of the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons just medium.

Now, American Football isn't really a thing here in the Netherlands. Of course, there is a select group (the real real fans) that follows all the games religiously, but football fans really remain in the majority. Regardless of whether you care about it or not, here are some facts about what you can expect tonight:

1. The New England Patriots

Husband of Gisele Bündchen, Tom Brady, has quite a record of Super Bowls to his name. Six in total, of which he has won four. Today lucky number five?

2. This year it's Lady Gaga's turn to perform

Gaga oh la la. Curious if she'll take a moment to completely bash Trump while she's performing live.

3. Speaking of Trump…

Brady has been spotted with a ‘Make America Great Again’ cap. And he is on friendly terms with the president, so I think it's pretty clear who Donald Trump is for. So let's say, if the Patriots lose, will Trump say it's all ‘rigged’?

4. Not a fan of Lady Gaga, but a fan of country music?

If you don't care for American football and also don't care for Lady Gaga but are a huge lover of country music, then there's something fun for you too. Country singer Luke Bryan gets to sing the American national anthem. It's nice if ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is your favorite song.

5. A presidential touch

No no, not Trump (thank goodness), but former president George Bush gets to toss the coin this year.

6. Most Valuable Player

Matt Ryan (who doesn't know him?) is the big favorite to take home the MVP award, even if the Falcons don't win. If you want to know: he is 1.93 meters tall, weighs 99.8 kilos, and Popeyes is his favorite fast food joint.

7. Watching tonight?

Do you have Fox Sports 2? Lucky you. The game starts at midnight!
