7X BRUNCHING IN AMSTERDAM

My absolute favorite thing to do on the weekend is, no, not working out, but brunching. Delicious, extensive, and especially long. When I lived in London, I would always plop down on a Saturday at one of my favorite Aussie brunch spots, with a Bloody Mary to combat the hangover. Aussies really know how to brunch. I’ll skip the ‘full English breakfast’ of the Brits for now, but a stack of ricotta hot cakes with maple syrup? Yes, please.

No plans for the weekend yet? Gather your girlfriends and make yourself comfortable at one of the best brunch spots in Amsterdam. Yes, you can brunch well here too.

1. Metropolitain

Want to get me out of bed and the gym is closed? Book a table at Metropolitain. You’ll find me here on the weekend for the tastiest açai bowl. Prefer comfort food? I’ve been told that the crêpes with Tony’s caramel sea salt are so good that you’ll lick your plate clean without shame. Maybe it’s time to cheat a little…

2. Bakers & Roasters

If you join the line on the weekend between 10 and 12, you’ll be at the back. It’s that busy. But your wait will be rewarded. Besides the delicious brunch plates, they also have the tastiest cakes and pastries. They are beautifully displayed on the counter, so the chance of resisting this temptation is very small.

3. CT Coffee & Coconuts

In the 1920s, this was a cinema school, now it’s a place where you inhale all the good things in life (I quote them). Looking for a nice workspace with good comfy food? Then you’ll be happiest at C&C on Ceintuurbaan. But even just for a cup of coffee with something sweet, you should come here.

4. TEDS

This is our Elke's favorite. And it can’t be any other way, because TEDS is charming down to the last detail. With texts on the menu like ‘Hello Beautiful’ and lightboxes on the wall, you can’t go wrong here. Order the Eggs Benedict, they are that good.

5. Little Collins

Aussies, I mentioned, right? Little Collins in the Pijp is an ode to Melbourne and incredibly cozy. From Wednesday to Sunday, this hotspot serves the perfect brunch. Hangover? Just plop down…

6. De Laatste Kruimel

You probably have to sit on someone’s lap, but that shouldn’t spoil the fun. Everything, really everything here is delicious. And if all those laps are taken, just take that sandwich with you. Around the corner, you can comfortably sit by the canal. If you want to catch a glimpse of our new addition Adeline, you know where to brunch tomorrow.

7. MOOK Pancakes

At MOOK Pancakes, the traditional Dutch pancake gets a major upgrade. Many tasty combinations are served here, which make my heart skip a beat. I’ll take The Heavy Mama, with banana, dates, and walnuts. Big plus: all pancakes at MOOK Pancakes are organic and there’s a vegan option for almost every pancake.
