8X WHY YOU SHOULD NO LONGER STEP ON THE SCALE
Women and the scale, a match made in hell. We are inseparable, but why actually? Just be honest: you'd rather not have it in your bathroom.
You feel good in your skin, feel fit, exercising goes well and you're used to your bowl of yogurt in the morning. By the way, you're itching to try that seaweed pasta out. Healthy, right? And yet that scale tells you that you haven't lost a single gram or worse: that thing says +1. And then that number keeps haunting you. With every bite you take and when you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, that ugly number is projected onto your retina. Let it go, let it be, as Elsa would say (I know this from my godchild). Don't step on the scale, take that croissant and enjoy it. It brings you nothing, zip, nada.
Why you shouldn't step on that damn thing anymore?
1. Your weight is different every day. If you've eaten a lot of salt, you'll retain water and there's a good chance a higher number will appear. But constipation can also be the culprit. An extra spoonful of flaxseed in that yogurt is a better idea.
2. On your period? Just say +1 kg, so go ahead and grab that chocolate bar (muahaha).
3. Muscles are heavier than fat. Are you just starting strength training? Then assume that you're not losing weight, but actually gaining. Those muscles do ensure a higher fat burning. Win-win, girlfriend.
4. You'd better use your favorite jeans as a benchmark. Is it a bit tight after the holidays? Then you know what to do: an extra round at the gym.
5. Or use your mirror. Are your love handles starting to grow? Make it a goal, adjust your diet (that means eating less fat) and go to the gym.
6. Just because you're a few kilos lighter doesn't mean you're a lot healthier. Look at your BMI, even though that doesn't say everything. A high cholesterol level can also occur in slim people. And the number on the scale says nothing about the condition of your organs or your heart.
7. With that extra kilo, you're just as lovely, fun, pretty, and attractive. And probably no one notices it. No one. Just believe your love when he says he finds you beautiful.
8. Constantly standing on the scale is unpleasant, even for those around you. Do your partner a favor and throw that thing in the trash. No one becomes happier from this. No, really no one.
