9X WHY BREAKFAST IS SO IMPORTANT

To all the non-breakfasting girlfriends of Amayzine. We need to talk. You and I. Something is wrong, and I don't know where. A third of the Dutch still manage to leave the house without having breakfast. I would like to give you a lesson in breakfast because I don't understand this at all, and that's putting it mildly. Isn't it a celebration to start the day eating? Call me crazy: I almost dream about my breakfast, but I do go to bed with the thought of a creamy oatmeal the next morning. Don't have time in the morning? I already gave you a lesson in prepping: your breakfast can easily go in your work bag. These are the reasons why you should start the day eating.
1. Nothing new. Breakfast is and remains the most important meal of the day. After a night of sleep, your body has gone eight to ten hours without eating or drinking, and it is therefore screaming for a load of new energy (and nutrients).
2. With a bowl of oatmeal, your body gets going, and it helps to burn your food for the rest of the day.
3. By having breakfast, you give your metabolism a kickstart. When your metabolism is up and running on your way to work, you feel fitter and slimmer. This again affects your study performance and productivity.
4. As a breakfast eater, you never have a morning mood. It's proven, right? Okay, unless you're out of coffee. Where is our George when you need him?
5. Breakfast helps to get your digestion going (provided you eat something that is high in fiber). I did say: oatmeal.

6. Skipping breakfast means you'll be hungry all day long. And yes, then you'll reach for anything that's available. ‘Anyone want a chocolate?’ I hear on the left, while on my right lies a pack of crackers. Okay, I don't want to say that you can resist that if you've just had breakfast, but you get my point, right? Or am I making it very complicated now? Just have breakfast.
7. Research shows that breakfast eaters maintain their weight better than non-breakfast eaters. Staying slim while having breakfast, why would you even think about skipping your breakkie?
8. And let's talk about those nutrients, because you often don't get them in for the rest of the day. Vitamin C in your fruit, proteins in your yogurt or in that fiber-rich oatmeal.
9. For breakfast, you can eat cake without feeling guilty about it. No, not chocolate cake, but a healthy apple pie made of oats and dates. So that's fine, or a yogurt cake with red fruit. All falls within those good intentions.
So now you know what you have to do tomorrow. And you know what? I'll also add some recipes. That's just me.
