Life is better in a bikini + 5x swimwear shopping in Bali
Sweaty, we come out of the warm factory. We brought new fabric and had a good meeting with the factory owner. We are going to reproduce our two own swimsuits for the We Like Bali shop! We were already out of our first stock. Now quickly arrange the shipping and coordinate with our lovely intern Dieuwertje in Amsterdam that the onepieces are back online for the holidays. The pre-order is already live on the We Like Bali shop for Black Friday (wow, that suddenly is quite a big deal, huh! Well, we are happily participating in a big discount campaign this weekend).
Speaking of swimwear... Some girls have a shoe collection. We have something similar, but with: BIKINIS. We can safely say that we have quite an addiction to bikinis, onepieces, and surf suits. One of the many advantages of living on an island is that we wear a bikini almost every day, whether it's for a surf session, beach walk, gym session (many bikini tops are super nice to work out in nowadays), or shoot. There is just something magical about wearing a bikini or swimsuit, don’t you think? It gives a kind of feeling of freedom, summer, vacation, good times (and tan lines. A bit of Bali Body Oil on and tanning with those beach bums).
Fortunately, the onepiece has made a huge comeback in recent years and there are fantastic designs to be found from the cutest brands. Because after a few weeks of eating croissants in Biarritz or stroopwafels in the Netherlands, a bikini is not always the best option. We even notice that onepieces have become more popular than bikinis. It is of course not only very comfortable and nice for the wild sea in Bali and surfing, but also super fun to combine with a nice high-waist short or your favorite denim jeans.
After almost ten years of living in a bikini, we definitely have our real favorite brands. There is so much offer in swimwear labels nowadays, it has really seen enormous growth. Many of these brands are produced in factories in Bali. Think for example of Gooseberry Seaside, Faithfull The Brand, Cantik Swimwear, Fella Swim, SKYE & Staghorn and so on. Designers from all over the world come to or live in Bali for their swimwear production. Furthermore, we are really big fans of for example Stone Fox Swim, Zulu & Zephyr, Frankie Swimwear, Cassandra Rull and Swimwear by Lioness (this list could go on forever).

Wanderlust
In Seminyak, Canggu and Ubud you can shop the cutest bikinis and onepieces at Wanderlust Swim. Every season they have the most beautiful new fabrics and fits, there is an enormous choice. So if you come to Bali and really want to score a nice bikini, this is definitely your number 1 go to spot.
The Drifter
On Oberoi Street in Seminyak and in Uluwatu you will find one of our favorite stores: The Drifter. It is a surf shop where you can also find a lot of bikinis, onepieces and wetsuits from the most beautiful brands from all over the world. From SKYE & Staghorn to the Hawaiian brand Mikoh. The owners also run Uluwatu Surf Villas, the most beautiful place ever to stay in Uluwatu (and where the best yoga spot Morning Light Yoga is located).
Tropicana
You had me at banana! This cheerful shop with bananas painted on the facade in Seminyak on Oberoi Street always has fun and especially affordable bikinis, which are especially great for tanning (so also many tiny bikinis). They sell their own label Midnight Swim, of which we already have quite a collection, hehe.
Gooseberry Intimates Store
You probably already know the brand Gooseberry Intimates (especially if you are on Instagram). The super popular lingerie label that is also produced in Bali (the only store in the world is in Seminyak) also has a swimwear line: Gooseberry Seaside. The fabrics, colors and fits are really amazing. All our friends have the classic black onepiece from Gooseberry Seaside, this swimsuit is truly a winner for every figure.
The Bali Tailor
If you are in Bali, The Bali Tailor must be on your shopping list. Here you can have your own shoes, bags and leather jackets customized. The fits and quality are great (we also have our Sunkissed Suede jackets collab here in our shop). Recently, the Australian owner Leah opened The Tailored Shop directly across from her first shop, with interior and even more must-have island goods. And she sells almost exclusively on the island Cantik Swimwear, one of our all-time favorite brands with the most beautiful basic bikinis and onepieces. A real insider tip!
Okay, and of course last but not least also our own online shop. We are now selling our onepieces in Bali as well, long live the GoJek couriers. We just deliver ‘to your home!’ hihi.
