The further we continue our honeymoon road trip, the more amazed I am by the landscape and temperature differences in such a relatively small area. You literally drive three hours further and suddenly you're going from minus 11 to plus 19 degrees. I am so incredibly happy that I ordered a few warm maternity pants from Zalando Maternity at the last minute. I never thought I would wear them as ‘pants’ again; I have become addicted to my maternity leggings. Of course, I try to style the whole thing a bit nicely, but without these items I would never have made it through the cold areas. Fortunately, the next locations are hitting 25 degrees, so bring on those maternity dresses.

While the whole of the Netherlands is turned upside down by the elections today, Jon and I are mainly concerned about which hike we will take through the Grand Canyon. Of course, we have authorized someone at home to cast our vote, because these elections are far too important for that. Without getting too political, huh. The whole world is watching over our shoulders to see what choice a ‘sensible country like the Netherlands’ is going to make. With the elections in France and Germany just around the corner, this is a serious course that we are also allowed to set. Are we following the destructive Trump route? Or will we show that there is so much more to gain with decency, sustainability, and intelligence?
In this intense political time, it is too important to make your voice heard, no matter which party you vote for. No matter how busy or ‘abroad’ we are, we
must vote!

Bring on those maternity dresses and slippers!

I really have to hold myself back from buying all the cute baby clothes I come across. What am I saying, baby clothes? It even went so far that I recently had something in my hands in size ’two years’! Fortunately, I was just in time called back to my senses. But when I received the new Katie Scott X H&M collection in my mailbox, my hands started itching again... You must have seen a beautiful picture book by this illustrator, filled with images of the most beautiful flora and fauna. Now she has developed an animal print exclusively for H&M, from which a beautiful boys & girls collection has emerged. But the smallest size available won't be wearable for my little one for at least another two years. Oh come on, can I make an exception and order something for the distant future?

To everyone considering planning a national parks trip through America: ABSOLUTELY DO IT! Each park has its own beautiful nature, and if you're not really into hiking: no worries, there are plenty of beautiful walks on flat ground and lookouts you can drive to. But to be honest: thanks to my own MacGyver, I have now transformed into a very enthusiastic hiker, and those hours-long trails through nature are really worth it. The average hiker almost twists their neck when we pass by with our professional hiking backpack with camel bag (for the layman: a super handy water bag for on the go), Leatherman, provisions for the road, and a giant camera attached to my belt to quickly snap a nice nature shot. Wow, if I look at us from a distance, I would think these are very professional hikers who do nothing else in their free time. I’ll just leave my Gucci bag in the hotel room for convenience...
