The nicest places to
high wine
The past few days have been all about starting the day with fresh croissants, taking photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, having lunch with warm French baguettes, and cruising in the latest Renaults. And when the temperature rises to nineteen degrees in the afternoon and the terraces fill up, wine calls. You get it, I get it. And drinking wine, the French can do that well. But so can we. And since I can now call myself quite the pro in wine, I’ve gathered the nicest spots in our country for the best glass (or bottle) of wine. Just in case you’re not in Paris this weekend, but want to stay in the Netherlands...
Barrel Wine Lounge, Groningen
At Barrel Wine Lounge, you have a choice of an assortment of over four hundred wines that can be ordered by the bottle, including unique old bottles. Not in the mood for a whole bottle? Every week, fifteen bottles are opened that can also be enjoyed by the glass. But a wine flight is also highly recommended at Barrel Wine Lounge.
BRUT Food & Wine Bar, Dordrecht
Looking for a special gift? Then give a high wine at BRUT as a present. Especially for the wine lover, it’s a delight to enjoy a good glass of wine combined with four small courses (savory and sweet) antipasti. Especially in the summer, it’s a treat to plop down here on the beautiful trendy terrace.
Stuyvesant Wine Lounge, Amsterdam
My absolute favorite is Stuyvesant Wine Lounge. Later when I grow up, I want this, and a bar filled with good bottles, perfect glasses, and then immediately a good sommelier who pours me the perfect Petite Sirah. Who’s coming on a wine date?
VinVin, Utrecht
In the intimate atmosphere of VinVin, you can enjoy almost thirty wines by the glass. In addition to the most special wines, they also serve a wide selection of finger food that perfectly matches your favorite glass. Fun fact: this Utrecht wine bar VinVin was named ‘Wine Bar of the Year 2016’ last year.
Wester Wine Factory, Amsterdam
At the Wester Wine Factory, you can escape the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam for a moment. Not only for a good glass of wine, but also for a delicious cocktail or a glass of soda, you are welcome here. With no less than seventy different wines (fifteen by the glass), they have a good glass for every wine lover; from a simple easy wine to a bold glass of wine. Take your favorite wine home or take a look in the wine lab where you can blend your own wine.
Sister Margaux, Amersfoort
Crawl through small alleys, past high walls, and eventually arrive at one of the nicest bars in Amersfoort. In the middle of the city center, in an ancient brick monastery, you will find all the peace and space for a good conversation and a perfect glass of wine. But also for your wine course, wine tasting, high wine, or an exclusive meeting, you are at the right address here.
Via Mucca, Maastricht
For the tastiest wines and the coziest Maastricht ambiance, you can plop down here on the weekend. Steffie knows everything about the tastiest wines, and she also serves the most delicious snacks with it.
