Amayzine

Whenever I receive a message from May-Britt, it’s always something fun: a cozy invite to a cool event or the next amazing Amayzine party that I absolutely cannot miss. But this time it was for ‘work and pleasure’ in one: whether May could drive me around the city for a nice interview dans la voiture. Of course, I said yes to that! It’s always a party to catch up with May, and if there’s a camera involved, it could very well produce some fun footage. As I got in, there were immediately two giant jars of candy and healthy snacks waiting for me. Which one did I choose? You’ll see that soon in ‘May meets’.

Every year around this time, I sit anxiously behind my laptop: which items from the new designer x H&M collection do I absolutely need to score this time? A few years ago during the Jimmy Choo limited collection, my mother, sister, and I were crazy enough to stand in line in the middle of the night for the H&M on the Nieuwendijk. By now, I belong to those ‘lucky few’ who get to pre-shop (this will undoubtedly earn me some hate mail…) and the days of setting alarms in the middle of the night and freezing for hours are over. And like you didn’t hate me enough, I also got to try on the Erdem X H&M collection in advance. This outfit is already in my imaginary shopping bag.

It’s very likely that each of you has seen a #metoo on your timeline over the past week. After the shocking stories about Harvey Weinstein, one woman after another in the Netherlands is coming forward with her experiences of sexual harassment under the hashtag metoo. I find it incredibly brave that all these women dare to speak out in the hope that this will spare many women in the future. And although this seems to occur in every industry, the acting world is now under extra scrutiny. Fortunately, I haven’t had any bad experiences at school, but I know enough stories from fellow actresses to understand that this unfortunately happens far too often and that certain positions of power are extremely abused. Let’s hope that through this action, the generations after us will never have to experience these terrible situations.

For years, I have been a huge fan of everything Sissy-Boy produces. From children’s clothing (I’m counting down the weeks until Otis fits into it) to Christmas ornaments, furniture, and home accessories: I’ve never managed to leave the store without buying something. When I saw the new prints designed by Dineke van Meeuwen on my timeline last week, I immediately wanted to give my entire house a makeover. Beautiful wallpaper with cranes and jungle print, which made me immediately call Jon excitedly to ask if we could renovate the living room just a little bit. This jungle print chair is already ready for our ‘new’ living room.
