Love from Oregon

I know I know, it would be a bit quieter from my side this week. Something about following in the footsteps of the WIDM candidates and a press trip in Oregon. But well, the writer's blood sometimes crawls where it can't go. May I very briefly hijack the Daily May to tell you something? Namely this: you want to go to Oregon. Why? The bizarrely lovely people, the Instagram-worthy landscape that looks totally different every half hour of driving, the too cute squirrels, the typically American neighborhoods with wooden villas and five (!) cars in front of the door, the delicious food and yes, I could go on like this for a while. I am hooked. So far, I have only been to large American cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago, but really, go to a less touristy state like Oregon and you will be amazed. Today we were at Trillium Lake. For the diehard ‘Who is the Mole?’ fans: that is where the opening shot of last season was filmed. After that, we walked through the same forest where the first game of the season was played (you know, candidates panicking and running between the trees looking for cards). So cool to see all those places, I am wagging my tail like an overly enthusiastic dog here.

Soon, of course, much more about this trip but the mini-message for now is: book a trip that normally wouldn’t come to mind so easily. Go into nature more often. Don’t care how your hair looks, get up early and hear the birds chirping. Take that plane, discover beautiful places, talk to strangers, do something silly, laugh so hard that you almost have to pee and order dishes from the menu that sound weird, but that you still want to try. Traveling is living. Okay, that’s enough of my sentimental rambling this Wednesday morning. I’m going to chase some squirrels or something. Bye.
