looking for Aladdin
The best cast role in the world is, without a doubt, Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. From prince charming in the movie, I had a slightly different image of that from a young age if the animated film ever became a live-action film, but so be it. Disney is once again in full swing to adapt another classic from the past, but the problem is: the cast.
Hollywood has been heavily criticized for casting white actors for roles that actually belong to a different ethnicity. Take Emma Stone in the film Aloha as an example. That film is based on a true story and Emma got the role of a half-Asian woman.
For the live-action adaptation of Aladdin, Disney wants to do it right with the roles of Aladdin and Jasmine. Huffington Post is trying to lend a helping hand. Who would you like to see on the big screen as Disney icon Aladdin?
1. Avan Jogia – mainly known for his role in a Nickelodeon show called ’Victorious’.
2. Dev Patel – whom we all fell in love with in Slumdog Millionaire.
3. Hrithik Roshan – I didn't know him either, but he is apparently one of the world's most popular Bollywood actors.
4. John Abraham – again a hero in India.
5. Shahid Kapoor – also known for his major roles in Bollywood films.
And now the options for Jasmine:
1. Lily Singh – a well-known Canadian YouTuber, with quite a few acting gigs on her resume.
2. Freida Pinto – who starred alongside Dev Patel in Slumdog Millionaire, and by the way is also his ex-girlfriend in real life.
3. Kangana Ranaut – a well-known Bollywood actress.
4. Priyanka Chopra – you might know her from the series ’Quantico’.
5. Tuba Büyüküstün – a stunning Turkish actress who’s got Jasmine written all over her.
Oh Disney, I really hope you handle this well.
