Yes, we Cannes

That head, Cara whispered to me. Cara Delevingne, yes. Duh. I won't do it for less. Cara and I are besties. Yeah, a lot can happen in a day and I'm going to tell you all about it.

I was actually on my annual school trip, correction: serious business trip to Cannes. With Magnum. That means chains, serious discussions, dancing and drinking working on the relationship with the client and eating ice cream and evaluating the product. And as if that wasn't bad enough, I would also meet Cara Delevingne and interview designer Jeremy Scott, who is also diving into Magnum alongside his own label and the Italian Moschino. He made a short film in which Cara eats a Magnum and is chased by cartoonish animals that have set their sights on her ice cream. Both Jeremy and Cara were at the launch of three new flavors and dove into the Magnum Double Bar together. Because Cara and bars are just as good a pair as Cara and Jeremy.

Because there is little time between the interview and the party (pronounced par-teeeh), a dressing room has been booked for us in the Carlton. There are four fashion girls (Stefanie from Glamour, Gigi from Elle, and Esmee from &C) who are washing feet, painting nails, sharing perfume, tying bra straps together, and exchanging chargers. As we leave the building, we stumble over Sarah Sampaio and over all the people who are ‘somebody’, but whom we do not recognize.

In the beach tent on the boulevard, you stumble over the Magnums and it's a dipping extravaganza. Although lunch was copious, that Magnum with white chocolate and strawberry and gold dipping found its way straight to my mouth. Then there is Cara. With short hair. What am I saying? With a bald head. She shaved her hair for a role in which she plays someone with cancer and she wanted to experience the real deal as an actress. Meanwhile, she is munching on the toppings and puts on a beret (we're in France so I'm wearing a beret) and then she dances towards the interview sessions.

Cara is a character. I've seen that before, backstage at the Chanel show where just before the show started she shouted very loudly, “I got to pooop!” And yes, that indeed means what you think it means. When Jeremy speaks, she listens and actively nods, but when he is done, she grabs her microphone and shouts “Woehoo”, “Yesss”, “Yes, we can” and other mood-enhancing phrases. Cara attempts a dance, also makes a video for her Instagram followers (forty million strong).

After dinner, it really kicks off. There are drag dancers from Kiddy Sm!le from Paris (Jeremy's favorite), there is champagne, there are cocktails, Cara is there, Jeremy is there, Jeremy's sunglasses are there, Lily Donaldson is there (you know, the model) and of course ice cream in abundance. As the new flavors are blessed with crackling fireworks and we sit on a cushion on the beach with a Magnum on the left and a strawberry cocktail on the right, dipping our feet in the sea, we are very satisfied. Let me just be honest: this has nothing to do with a business trip, this is just a school trip. The five-star version, but still. A school trip.
