Extreme fear of missing out?
This is everything you need to say to yourself when you're struggling with this
The fear of missing out. I don’t know about you, but it was quite present for me last week with ADE. Now, I'm never someone who completely fills my week with parties; I always end up randomly with friends everywhere. Only this year I just skipped it with a lot of pain and effort. Alright, except for one ADE drink, but otherwise you could just find me at home on the couch. Saahaaai, I know, but sometimes, you know, sometimes it really doesn't hurt to say no, even if you have extreme FOMO. And here's why:
1. You save money
Honestly, don’t you often spend a bit too much when you go out? I certainly do. Especially after a few drinks, the money keeps flowing out of my wallet. Something I always regret afterwards. So staying home on the couch = not spending unnecessary money = having money left at the end of the month. Ha, look, that's how you save up for that Chanel bag.
2. It's better for your health
No hangovers, no drunk midnight snacks; you just wake up fresh and fruity the next day. Here at least not suffering from it. #winning
3. You have extra free time left
As in: because you don’t have a hangover, you’re not lying in bed until late in the afternoon the next day. This often makes weekends even more fun, because you don’t feel like you’ve wasted a lot of your beloved free hours.
4. Social media is not an indication of how things really are
Because you know there were about thirty failed photos before there was finally a good one. And fifty boomerangs. Just keep in mind that photos are often more fun than the party itself. Better to just stay on that couch with the latest season of Stranger Things.
5. It saves energy for the more fun events
Okay, just to be clear, it’s not the intention that you never go out in the evening again, but when you do it now, you’ll enjoy it even more than those random nights where you don’t really experience much.
6. Your friends love you, no matter what
Don’t think that your friends won’t like you anymore if you don’t go out once. And if they do, then I think it’s time to seriously consider whether those are really the friends you want in your life.
See, it wasn't that bad that you didn't go to all those ADE parties.
