FIVE INSPIRING TED TALKS

On weekends, I like to hide under the blankets with a hot cup of tea, a handsome man (just kidding) and a marathon of TED Talks. I'm not really team Netflix; I prefer to devour very nerdy books or listen to inspiring words from smart and amazing women (okay, or men). Those Ted Talks have become quite a hit in recent years, having blown over from America, but are now also wildly popular among us Dutch. I often play them in the background instead of some music. A perfect example of multitasking. With your makeup brush in one hand and your phone with Instagram in the other hand, Simon Sinek explains to you in detail that we millennials are addicted to social media. Busted.

Have you finished watching The OA and are you, like me, allergic to snow (so not going outside)? Sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and let yourself be inspired.

1. Tim Urban – Inside the mind of a master procrastinator

Do you always leave everything until the last moment? As a born OCD'er, I don't understand that at all. Tim Urban does everything at the last minute and explains in his TED Talk how that works in his head.

2. Kelly McGonigal – How stress can become your friend

Stress was long seen as enemy number 1, but new research shows that stress is only dangerous if you think it is dangerous.

3. Brené Brown – The power of vulnerability

Perhaps one of my favorite TED Talks, I love Brené. In this Talk, she describes what it means to be vulnerable in a world focused on perfectionism and taking risks, without guaranteed success.

4. Irene Rompa – Opening up to kindness

Irene shares in her short but powerful Talk that kindness is everywhere. You just have to be open to it...

5. Simon Sinek – Millennials in the Workplace

I already told you why we suffer from happiness stress. According to Sinek, we millennials are addicted to social media, and as a result, our self-confidence is significantly affected.
