Generation Y loves to travel

And this is the most popular destination of this summer

For half a year now, I have been completely thrilled, smitten, and addicted to this country. The people are so sweet that you want to hug them all day, the food is out of this world, and the culture, temples, and rituals are incomparable to any other country, if you ask me.

Of course, I'm talking about Thailand. And what turns out? I'm not the only twenty-something who is such a fan. My buddies from travel platform PaperFlies (a comparison site for flight tickets) have looked at 1.3 million flight ticket searches from travelers aged 18 to 34. It turns out that so far, the most searched flights this summer are to Bangkok. In second place? Bali (we could expect that, of course), followed by New York, Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Barcelona.

By the way, it's quite funny that four out of the five most searched destinations for the summer of 2017 are all outside of Europe. A trend that has been visible for a while: long-distance travel is very popular among Generation Y. Well, and if flying keeps getting cheaper I can't blame us. A ticket to Bali? 380 euros if you're lucky. Besides, living in Asia doesn't cost a dime and the coolness factor of ‘traveling around’ the continent is sky-high, trendy, and something I want to have done.

Are you still hesitating for this summer? I would say: go crazy and book that ticket to Bangkok if you've never flown that way before. I have, so we need to think of something else for me. Although, I have never been to Bali. And does my eye now see on PaperFlies that the tickets in November are around 450 euros? Oh boy, I think this Indo is going to search for her roots for the first time this year...

So, I can't say it often enough: go forth and fly, people, go forth and fly far. (And hey, tip me if you come across a gem of a cheap ticket.)
