GOSSIP GIRL FLASHBACK

What Blair, Serena, Dan, Chuck, and Nate are up to these days

I don't know exactly how it came to this. Maybe it's because of the trip to New York (one big orgy of Gossip Girl locations), maybe because of my hopeless sense of drama and intrigue, but the fact remains that I, hatsakee, have started watching Gossip Girl season 1 episode 1 again. The best part about rewatching a series? Suddenly you understand so much more. You know what's coming and then you still scream panically at your TV why little Johnny should or shouldn't do this because help, that might happen. And because we secretly are all still a bit obsessed with the adventures of the Upper East Siders, it was time to see what they are up to these days.

Blake Lively (a.k.a. Serena van der Woodsen).

Gossip Girl was the hard breakthrough for Blake and since then the world has gone crazy for her. Women adore her as a style icon, men as a bombshell. In 2011, she was included in TIME's annual list of the hundred most influential people, in 2012 she married Ryan Reynolds (goddammit) and in 2016

she became the mother of two beautiful daughters (and then immediately slim again, HOW?). She starred in the films Savages and The Age of Adaline with 'our' Michiel Huisman, in between she briefly became the face of L’Oréal and shines in Gucci campaigns. In 2017, her net worth was estimated at 17 million. And, Ryan is also worth 45 million. Yep, that good old Serena has it all figured out. Leighton Meester (a.k.a. Blair Waldorf).

Honestly, the role of Blair might be the best mean girl act ever. Leighton made her acting debut at thirteen in Law & Order. Since then she has appeared in various series,

but Gossip Girl, has made her the most famous. She was the face of Biotherm, Jimmy Choo and did you know this hot lady is currently singing a little tune? Her first album received rave reviews. What has she gained from the whole adventure? A tidy 8 million. Dan Humprey (a.k.a. Penn Badgley).

He voiced characters in video games in 1999, starred in John Tucker Must Die and was then asked for Gossip Girl. By the way, he didn't want to at all, but the producers managed to persuade him. He had a two-year relationship with Blake during filming and Lonely Boy has since focused on his music career with the band Mothxr. He changes his hair more often than Justin Bieber (

here, proof). Long curls, platinum blonde, completely shaved; crazy Pennie does it all. This year he married singer Domino Kirke and their guests? They were allowed to show up in jeans. That's how we know you again, Humprey.Chace Crawford (a.k.a. Nate Archibald).

My heart still skips a beat when I suddenly see Nate appear in a movie. WHY did he play the loser in Gossip Girl? Chace has earned 6 million euros in recent years and actually, it's been quiet around him for a while now. Such a shame.

Ed Westwick (a.k.a. Chuck Bass).

Massively crying, ladies, Ed has now found his real-life Blair Waldorf. Not in Vanessa from the series (with whom he was seriously dating for a while), but in 26-year-old actress Jessica Serfaty. The couple announced the news this week

via Instagram . And, in case you didn't know, Ed is British, originally auditioned for the role of Nate and adopted an American accent for Gossip Girl. HOW? He once said about Gossip Girl: “There wasn't much work in Britain. I was only in Los Angeles for a month and got this show. It changed my life.” He made 4 million dollars from it.. Do we need to know anything else?.

– Taylor Momsen (a.k.a. Jenny Humprey) is still doing great in music. “When it comes to acting, it's literally talking about my childhood,” she said in an interview. She doesn't really see a Gossip Girl reunion happening.

– Kelly Rutherford (a.k.a. Lily van der Woodsen) is bankrupt. The actress earned over 370,000 euros a month with Gossip Girl until a few years ago, but an expensive divorce has brought her down. Poor Lily.

– Matthew Settle (you know, Rufus Humprey) is the most fun to follow on Instagram.

So, we're caught up, right?. Just look.

XOXO
