Just about being handsome

A friend exclaimed that she thought that brunette with the endless legs was very beautiful. And I just thought: huh, but why? Yes, everything fit the picture, the legs and arms were in the right place, but I didn't find her that stunning. Just pretty, that was it. But I can find a woman who doesn't really fit the mold and where you can see that on the outside, much more attractive than someone who tends towards perfection. Yes, I want to talk about the definition of being attractive. Because what determines that and why?

I read a story about a lady who thought it was more important to update her botox than to pay her rent. And that made my eyebrow raise quite a bit, along with the accompanying wrinkles. She was afraid she would lose her job if she was considered ugly. Is being beautiful that important? And this is coming from someone who is a regular guest at the beauty department of a department store (hello, it's me here). I also feel a bit more accomplished when I apply that swipe of concealer on the blue area under my eyes. But I prefer having a roof over my head rather than showing up flawlessly.

Getting fired because you're too ugly. Who actually decides which category you fall into? And what is the definition of beautiful or beauty? Ha, let me turn to my favorite: the dictionary. Beauty is, and I quote: an idea or feeling of a pleasant appearance or inner self and the aura of a person. I would love to email this to the botox person. Like: hey, I read your piece. And don't worry too much about filling in those wrinkles, because it’s just as much about what you radiate and whether your inside is a bit pleasant. Look at it from an artist's perspective; if there’s no depth, then there’s little to see or find beautiful. By the way, attractive people tend to stay single longer, read here maar even.

It is proven that you are more successful on the job if you pay attention to your appearance. Seems like a no-brainer, because I also get the feeling that a well-groomed person is competent. At least in terms of getting themselves ready in the morning shock in front of the mirror. Then you’re nicely solution-oriented, in my mind. But that is totally different from being considered too ugly to do your job. By the way, I have never heard of anyone getting fired because a wrinkle appeared. If that’s the case, email me. I would love to get to know you.

The fact that I find someone unattractive (so to speak, because there’s something charming in everyone) says nothing about whether someone else might fall head over heels for you. Luckily. So if you prefer the botox doctor over your rent because you’re afraid of getting fired, go ahead and look for another boss, because it might just be that they find you the most attractive. And I haven’t even mentioned whether you do your job competently, because I think that helps too. And just go out there and find others attractive, because I’m glad you find something else beautiful than I do.
