Christmas in the City
Vivian Hoorn
It was the most fun Vivian Hoorn who ever captured me with her camera and I have been misusing that photo ever since. Not because I looked so good that day, by the way, but because she captures exactly the right moment. She is just as beautiful in front of the lens as the work she delivers behind it. And I wanted to know what she was going to do for Christmas this year (with that handsome new boyfriend).
Here it comes.
Where do you settle for an ultimate Christmas?
“I celebrate Christmas at my parents” place in the south of the country.”
Which movie do you flop down on the couch for?
“For any movie with Julia Roberts or something that involves romance, hehe.”
What do you pull out of the closet for the Christmas dinner?
“My tracksuit. Everyone at our home puts on their comfy clothes. And then we enjoy watching All You Need Is Love together.”
Which wine do you pour?
“I’m not drinking wine at the moment. Isn’t that terrible?”
Who do you celebrate it with?
“With my family and my parents' friends. And yes, also for the first time with my in-laws.…”
What do you hope to find under the tree?
“A nice coffee set. Look, a Cartier watch would also be really nice, but I doubt that will be there, haha.”
Your 2017 summarized in three words?
“A lot of love.”
Tell us, what’s on the Christmas menu this year?
“This girl is intolerant to basically everything that’s tasty AND I’m on a diet. So it’s going to be a vegan soup with a little fish and vegetables.”
What’s your craziest memory of Christmas?
“That my parents” friends came over and brought a gift for everyone. They were sex toys, from sexy Santa sets to a lot of other sexy stuff. We laughed so much.”
What’s the ultimate cheesy but oh so delicious Christmas song?
“Santa Baby. But also Why Wouldn’t It Be Christmas Everyday with that little girl, who actually screams more than sings.”
Do you have plans for New Year’s Eve?
“New Year’s is an emotional thing for me, so I always take it easy with friends at home.”
Who do you prefer to celebrate that with?
“With my friends and loved ones.”
Oliebollen or apple fritters?
“Yes, intolerant.”
Are you a fireworks person? Or would you rather be a watcher from behind the window on New Year’s?
“No way, I’ve been setting off firecrackers at Museumplein since ten o'clock on New Year’s Eve. Haha, what do you think?”
Do you get excited about New Year’s resolutions or do you just enjoy them?
“I achieve my New Year’s resolutions every year, so I really enjoy them.”
If you could name one thing, what has 2017 taught you?
“That working too hard and too much doesn’t make you happier.”
Do you have a special New Year’s wish?
“In the new year, I want to focus more on good causes. I would say: join me.”
