This is how you survive Christmas without those extra kilos

One down, one two go. Have you eaten your fill and is your head still pounding because that last glass was actually unnecessary? Today we do it differently, girlfriend. Don’t worry, I won’t take that croissant away from you and you really don’t have to nibble on a carrot today, but you can make sure that the damage is limited. With these tips, you will survive Christmas without gaining weight.

  1. The chance is very high that the bottle will be opened again this afternoon. You really don’t have to say no to that. At the same time, it’s also not necessary to completely give in to alcohol. That means not only fewer calories, but it also keeps tomorrow's hangover at bay.
  2. Don’t starve yourself. Skipping breakfast to throw an extra piece of cheese on your toast this afternoon makes little sense. On the contrary, it will only make you crave more treats this afternoon.
  3. Do a short workout after your breakfast. You’ll feel better and create space for the next food fest.
  4. Pull out your tightest dress. Yes, really. In tight clothing, you can feel your body much better and you will be more inclined to stop eating than if you slide into the table in your fat pants.
  5. Get enough sleep. Fatigue makes you crave (unhealthy) food. Additionally, you will feel less satisfied when you sit at the table tired. In short, plenty of reasons to get your rest.
  6. A Christmas brunch at your parents', drinks with friends, followed by an elaborate Christmas dinner at your mother-in-law's. All nice and definitely worth doing, but you don’t have to eat every croissant or piece of cheese. In the end, all those snacks add up and it’s not fun to sit down for Christmas dinner with a full stomach. Choose wisely and keep it light.
  7. Even at the Christmas dinner, you can ensure that you don’t completely go overboard on the calories. Take what you like, but keep the portions small. Stop when you are satisfied.
  8. Make a walk between meals. A bit of movement won’t hurt and your brain gets some oxygen too.
  9. Send your guests home with leftovers. That way, you won’t be snacking on that chocolate mousse or those homemade Christmas cookies for days.
  10. Take gum. This way, you protect yourself against the moment you grab another Christmas cookie from the table.
  11. Enjoy. It’s only Christmas once a year, so you can enjoy it without feeling guilty. Tomorrow, an extra round.
