Kiek has discovered a new top series

and this is why you want to watch it tonight

Seen Orange is the New Black? Sure. Gossip Girl? Also. Prison Break, Narcos and Breaking Bad then? Also. Ozark then? Maybe you're just getting into it. The fact remains: there aren't many blockbuster series, and if they are, they get devoured quickly. I can tell you: get ready because I've discovered a new gem: Tin Star. A thrilling story about revenge, money, and a dark past. I briefly mentioned it here already. The good news? Tonight is the premiere on BBC First, so I've already stocked up on popcorn. Can we all just watch that with a normal channel package? Absolutely, mein freunden, at no extra cost. With subtitles too, handy handy.

So for everyone who wants to enjoy from the first minute tonight, turn on that television at 21:00 on BBC First. Why? Here’s why:

The story isn't entirely new. It is based on the popular book series by Sara Shepard (yes, the writer of PLL).

In the series, you follow British detective Jim Worth. He settles with his family in the small, quiet village of Little Big Bear to become the police chief and get a better life. But our friend won't have it easy, there's even an attack on his family. He is after one thing: bittersweet revenge, bitches. Drug dealers, sensation, prostitution, organized crime, corruption, murder, sorrow, and an all-consuming revenge. I just love the drama.

You don't have to ‘get into’ it first

I'm a bit allergic to that, series where you have to watch a whole season before ‘something’ happens. Nah, Tin Star is super exciting from the first episode. And without giving too much away: a LOT happens in those first three quarters of an hour. (those are the benefits of this job, I've already seen the preview. Hehe.).

The cast

BAFTA winner Tim Roth (Lie to Me) shines in the lead role as police chief Jim Worth. And seriously, they couldn't have cast him better if you ask me. Instant sympathy for this guy. And for the Mad Men lovers: yep, Christina Hendricks also stars in the 10-part series.

The surroundings

Tin Star is filmed in the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains setting and oh boy, it's clear: slap Canada right on that travel bucket list.

Elizabeth's designer bags

Well, whether you're a fashion girl or not, right? I always spot shoes and bags in series. That Chloé Faye bag from Elizabeth remains a gem.

Oliver Coopersmith

Move over Chuck Bass, there’s a new bad boy in town. Played by Oliver Coopersmith. Mr. brings a hefty dose of bad romance to the series. Now. Already. Excited. Good, is it already 21:00?
