Koninklijke Schoonheid

Until four years ago, I had never celebrated King's Day. How is that possible? Well, the lady has lived in Germany for five years and they don't have a king there. And a birthday party for Angela Merkel isn't exactly high on the calendar. Boring, boring, boring. Because when I stood at a King's Day festival for the first time, I was sold. I now dutifully hit the streets of Amsterdam every year in my orange attire to celebrate that the king is another year older. Or just to celebrate that we have a day off. Either way, it's always a party.

The only problem with King's Day? The color orange. It's such a terribly difficult color, and that makes choosing your makeup look extra tricky. And always those little flags on your cheeks get boring too, so I find myself spending hours in front of my vanity. The most creative thing I ultimately conjure on my face? A simple red lip. Boring, I know. But this year everything will be different. If you really think about it, there are tons of fun options. A blue or white line above your eyes for example, or orange nails. Then just my go-to red lip and we’re ready to partyyyyyy. Here are some tips for you. You'll be King's Day ready in no time. And if you have tips to make pretty orange not ugly, let me know!
