ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE IDEAL MID-JACKET

Renske is torn between these 6 salon-worthy options

Christ on horseback, we’ve actually made it. It’s spring, the trees are almost almost ALMOST green and there are even fabulous messages on Facebook about terrace weather. Of course, it’s always a wait-and-see whether those kinds of eureka messages come true, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s definitely time to put away the winter coat. Glory! Away with that thick thing! Say goodbye to the extra ballast!
Goodbye extra ballast.

However, it’s still too early to go outside ‘without a coat’, as I used to say so beautifully. Much to the dismay of my grandmother, by the way, but she was also the very first language virtuoso in our family.

Well, enough about my youth. Right now, I’m just eagerly searching for a nice mid-jacket. You know, one of those jackets you wear in the months of April-May-June and actually also in July-August-September-October. Because let’s be honest: the days when you can wear your potential summer jacket, or go outside without a jacket, can be counted on two hands. That’s why I’m currently scouring many stores and webshops, and let me tell you, it’s a lot of stress. Because I want, of course, the coolest, most salon-worthy jacket from the western hemisphere. I won’t settle for less, I won’t get out of bed or out the door for less. What are we going to get, I ask!
Alright, here come the mid-jackets, maybe you know which one I should have.

1. Sissy-Boy has been doing great lately, and they also have a really cool suede trench coat in their flashy collection. Quite a bit affordable and above all incredibly seventies, classic and yet current, if you ask me. And even if you don’t ask me. Whatever. Everyone can understand that this jacket suits me very well: I can just see myself walking in a long suede coat, with my long brown hair, cool bangs, flared jeans, and a round Gucci sunglasses on my nose. Totally me, you know. Totally me.

Price: 289.99 euros

2. Oeoeoeoeoe, what a classic is this trench from See by Chloé. Oeoeoeoeoeoe. The ties and the wide sleeves + the material (a blend of cotton and linen) make this jacket totally 2017 and thus a possible winner. Right? A beautiful mid-jacket that will do well on summer terraces, but also works in a business look. Sure, it’s not cheap, but I can’t do anything about that, it is what it is.

Price: 595 euros

3. May I have a round of applause for the Nugar Coat from Essentiel Antwerp? A nice oversized, shiny luxury coat that you can really combine with anything. Sultry dresses, sweaters, jeans, a classic striped suit: anything goes. The coat comes in dark blue, mustard yellow, and salmon pink, but it just so happens that I have very few pink items. And since that is the color of the season...

Anyway, the observant reader has figured it out by now: the options are piling up.

Price: 375 euros

4. Look, this is a coat that fits the athluxury/athleisure trend I don’t really have much with this trend, since I’m quite unathletic, but I do find this Sandro jacket quite nice. Especially the stripes are quirky and retro. Moreover, I think you can wear this item with a lot of outfits. Price: 285 euros

5. An incredibly beautiful, rich camel-colored coat from Maje with piped pockets. A top coat for business summers, but also beautiful with a simple pair of jeans and a Breton striped sweater. Admittedly: maybe it’s just a bit too warm for temperatures above twenty degrees, but my motto is: we’ll see about that (summer) weather.

Price: 450 euros

6. Look, this Gucci Jacquard Coat is only for if I win the lottery tomorrow. Or if you all decide to donate a few hefty coins to me. My account number is (indeed) known to the editorial staff. I solemnly promise: you won’t regret it. This coat will look fantastic on me!

Price: 3,980 euros
