Especially in a house full of girls

I am the youngest at home. Surprising, right, after such a title. Young me has two older sisters. It's something, you know, when you're at home with three girls. May knows it, King Willem Alexander knows it. Something with a lot of hormones and large amounts of money that need to be spent on tampons and such. My parents always said they were really happy and that they never wanted sons (yeah, right).

1. You get all the hand-me-downs. Why buy new clothes when there are still clothes that used to belong to your sisters? Until you are about fourteen and suddenly a head taller than the rest (in my case, that was true). Ha, you finally get to shop for new clothes yourself.

2. But even if you are that head taller, you will always be known as the baby of the family.

3. You are spoiled. Not necessarily in terms of the amount of stuff, but more in the sense that you are allowed to do much more at a younger age than the rest. I still remember very well when my oldest sister got her first mobile phone. I guess she was about sixteen/seventeen years old. And how old was I? About fourteen.

4. You have more quality time with your parents (and hopefully you appreciate that too). This was a comment that my middle sister happened to make recently. Look, my oldest sister sat alone with my parents for four years, and I also lived alone with them for two years, but I was at an age where I can still remember it very well.

5. You are always the one who gets the short end of the stick when you go out with the family in the car, because you have to sit in that annoying middle seat.

6. Often, the people around you that you hang out with are older than you because you experience this from a young age. And how bad ass were you when you were still ten and got to hang out with your sister and her sixteen-year-old friends? Just saying.

7. You love being the center of attention . Just admit it: in every situation where that was possible, you tried to get attention.

8. Now I know very well that my own sisters will not agree with this, but so be it. As the youngest, you are also simply the funniest at home. Period.
