Marinated tofu from the Airfryer
I catch myself walking past the meat section in the supermarket more and more often and filling my basket with substitutes; from the meat section in the supermarket and filling my basket with substitutes; from a good bean burger to a veggie steak. And the packs of tofu go through me quickly as well. Yet I always find tofu a bit tricky. Somehow I could never get the protein-rich meat substitute really crispy. Fortunately, my friends from Philips have changed that.
The brand new Airfryer XXL from Philips now bakes the crispiest tofu you've ever eaten in less than twenty minutes. How is that possible? The Philips Airfryer XXL uses Twin TurboStar technology. This hot air technology is specially developed to extract fats from food, allowing you to fry your food in the healthiest way with this Airfryer. Ha, doesn't that sound good? Oh yes, and this marinade is heavenly. Perfect on your avocado toast, over your miso soup, in your rice dish, or just as a snack with a glass of wine. Believe me, you want this.
What do you need?
- 300 grams of tofu
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 2 tsp sambal
- 1 tbsp chili sauce (sweet)
- 1 clove of garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp chili flakes and salt
- Let the tofu drain well and press the moisture out of the tofu with some kitchen paper.
- Cut it horizontally in half and then into cubes.
- Put the cubes in a large bowl.
- Add the other ingredients and mix them well together.
- Let the marinade soak in for an hour and stir it occasionally.
- Put the tofu in the basket of the Airfryer and bake crispy at 180 degrees for 20 minutes.
- Shake the basket after ten minutes so that the tofu bakes evenly crispy.
