GIVE THAT BEAN A THRONE

Today I want to talk to you about one of my favorite things on earth. It's small and unfortunately a neglected child, because you can do all sorts of things with it. And oh yes, of course, it's food. The bean. Which is not called holy for nothing. This fine little food is packed with good nutrients, but unfortunately, it also contains less healthy substances, namely anti-nutrients. That's why it's important to soak beans first. Why you should also be crazy about the bean want?

1. Good for the waistline

Beans are low in calories; there are only 100 calories in 100 grams of cooked beans. Therefore, beans are lower-calorie sources of good carbohydrates and fiber than rice, pasta, or bread. Research has shown that people with a diet rich in beans did not experience hunger and lost as much as one and a half kilograms in just four weeks. Additionally, beans help you on your way to that flat stomach. Also not entirely unimportant.

2. Lots of protein

Beans are a plant-based source of protein and thus the perfect solution for vegans. There are as much as 8 grams of protein in 100 grams of cooked beans. This is two to sometimes four times as much as the same amount in grains and double the amount in 100 grams of yogurt. And it's also the perfect meat substitute in your meal.

3. Lots of fiber

Due to the large amount of fiber in beans, you feel full longer and are less likely to crave food after a meal. Having trouble with number two on the loo? Beans then!

4. Clean intestines

Because of that large amount of fiber, beans keep your intestines clean and healthy.

5. Stable blood sugar levels

Beans contain good, complex carbohydrates that keep your blood sugar levels stable. The energy you get from beans is released slowly to your body, allowing you to maintain a feeling of fullness for a long time.

6. Vitamins and minerals

No matter how small it is, the bean is packed with important vitamins and minerals. They contain a significant amount of potassium, iron, and magnesium, as well as a lot of vitamins B1, B6, and folic acid.

7. Versatile

‘What do you have there that's delicious?’ my colleague on the left asked. ‘Bean tart,’ I whispered. Whispering yes, before they would declare me a cuckoo again. After a heavy workout, I like to have a tart made of cannellini beans, proteins, whey protein, blueberries, and low-fat quark for breakfast. Super simple, because I make it the night before, dump it in a Tupperware container in the morning, and eat it at work. But I also regularly toss a handful of mixed beans into my salad and often conjure up a little burger made of kidney beans on the table in the evening.

8. Cholesterol

Beans help lower your LDL cholesterol (which is not good).

9. Good for heart and blood vessels

And a lowered cholesterol level leads to healthy heart and blood vessels.

10. Anti-inflammatory

Particularly, brown beans work well against inflammation, and by eating them, inflammation at the cellular level is reduced. And such an inflammation is ultimately an important factor in the development of cancer.
