5 style lessons from Brigitte Bardot
“There is an exhibition about Brigitte Bardot every year. I am in Saint Tropez where a friendly man points out an exhibition that I really need to see. No matter how many polished and Hermès-clad women frequent the fishing village, no one beats Bardot. Although we can, keeping these style lessons in mind, get a little closer to her.
1. The BB check
Of course. No-brainer. Actually, it's called theVichy check, but BB has rightly claimed it. This check is like the blue and white marinière, a classic that suits everyone and fits every occasion.
2. Ballerinas are the best
Especially on the bumpy cobblestones and steep paths in Saint Tropez. I have spent hours from the terrace of Senequier admiring young girls on their poles with red soles. You know I love them, but it has to fit. In Saint Tropez, 12 centimeters of heels are completely out of place, and a ballerina is so much more elegant. Moreover, you can much more easily climb aboard some yacht with them.
3. Simple is sexy
Three-quarter shorts, fitted top in the same color, ballerinas underneath, and you're done. Okay, that divine figure of Bardot really helps, but you can do something about that too.
4. Shine your shoulders
That is really the signature outfit of Saint Tropez. The top with bare shoulders. It's classy, chic, and sexy at the same time. And you get a nice tan. Preferably the simple version, not with too much lace and fuss.
5. Rock your shorts
Such a lovely short pair of shorts. Either a cut-off jeans or something that is in between hotpants and a spicy bermuda.
I want to go again right away, how about you?
