The capri pants

The perfect pants for a warm day. Not too short, not too sexy, enough room to show off your tanned legs and above all: nice and cool.

What is it?

A three-quarter pant, also known as capri pants or pedal pushers. A pant that ends between the knee and ankle and does not fit too tightly around the leg.

Who invented it?

That was Sonja de Lennard in 1948, but the pants really reached global fame when Grace Kelly wore them on, yes, the island of Capri. Hence: the name.

Who wears it?

When I think of Capri, I think of slender ladies like Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Jackie Kennedy. But Rafael Nadal also colored the courts by playing his matches in three-quarter pants (albeit of a slightly looser kind).

How much does it cost?

Very reasonable, depending on the brand, but such a pair of pants doesn’t have to cost you a fortune.

And…

Preferably wear them with a ballerina flat or at most a cork wedge. Think Capri, heels are not practical there.
