My love for the Pulitzer Hotel

My love for the Pulitzer Hotel began almost immediately at the reopening last September (they know how to throw a party). It is the place where my ‘work bae’ Theo and I are also immortalized (see here what I mean), so you understand: this place left a mark.

I also have a personal history with the PR and communications executive Sophie Janssen. She and I go way back. As in over thirteen or fourteen years ago when I still lived in Paris and she in Brussels. Our schools both participated in the same sports tournaments, so Sophie and I often had to compete against each other. If you ask her how I was back then, I know for sure her answer will be that I always refused to speak in Dutch. Don’t worry, that has been sorted out by now as you all know.

But well, Sophie is yet another plus point of the many things I love about the Pulitzer.

  • It is within walking distance of my house but I admit: even if this hadn't been the case, you would still find me here often.
  • If you don’t have a garden or balcony in Amsterdam (just like me), then you will find the best replacement for the sunny months here. And then it’s secretly really nice that you don’t have to arrange all your drinks and snacks yourself.
  • The macarons. I am extremely picky when it comes to macarons. Sorry, but I lived in Paris for so long that I can. I don’t want a dry bite or a cookie that’s way too hard. Go to Pause in the Pulitzer. Here they are perfect.
  • And yes, Pause is of course also super instagrammable. But the whole hotel is instagrammable. I mean: the Pulitzer Suite, hello then. That bath, that bed. Clearly why we chose this as a location for the editors shoot for the magazine, right?Read
  • also the eleven reasons why you absolutely want to stay here according to May. here Have I mentioned the Pulitzer Bar yet? Because I love this place. The bartenders are very schön, they even make off-the-menu cocktails for you if you feel like something different than what’s on the menu and also a shoutout to the meatballs on their snack menu. Divine.
  • Are you looking for a nice restaurant for a lunch appointment, something fun for date night or a dinner with friends? Go to Jansz. And don’t forget the New York cheesecake for dessert.
  • So, who do I see next weekend in the bar for a cocktail?.
